A Handbook on International Human Rights Conventions


  
Abstract

  This Handbook on International Human Rights Conventions is developed by National Human Rights Commission of India in fulfillment of its mandate under Section 12(f) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA) to “study treaties and other international instruments on human rights and make recommendations for their effective implementation”. This handbook will be helpful for institutions dealing with human rights issues besides students, human rights activists, NGOs, researchers, academics and other stakeholders. This includes the nine core international human rights treaties which address a wide range of economic, social and cultural rights, civil and political rights, the elimination of racial and gender discrimination, protection against torture and forced disappearance and the rights of women, children, migrants, persons with disabilities.
