Abstract

  The Adolescent Girls (AG) Scheme under ICDS primarily aimed at breaking the inter-generational life-cycle of nutritional and gender disadvantage and providing a supportive environment for self-development. The AG Scheme in its present form is being implemented through Anganwadi Centres in both rural and urban settings. Under the Scheme, the adolescent girls who are unmarried and belong to families below the poverty line and school drop-outs are selected and attached to the local Anganwadi Centres for six-monthly stints of learning and training activities. The objective of the Scheme is to increase self-confidence, boost morale and give dignity. The scheme may be called as Kishori Shakti Yojana. This Implementation Manual with Guidelines has been developed to support all persons who would be involved in implementing the Scheme, including the district, project and grass root level functionaries
